Regular and robust national wellbeing statistics and research are required in Malta to be able to compare the wellbeing of different segments of Maltese society, over time, and with other countries, to evaluate policy performance in wellbeing terms and to identify policy priorities.
The Wellbeing INDEX project is a strategic and over-arching initiative, led by the Malta Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society in collaboration with the University of Malta.
The name “INDEX” summarizes the project’s scope (Indicators, Networking, Data Visualisation, Exploration and eXchange). The project aims to pave the way for the measurement of wellbeing in Malta and evidence-based wellbeing policy.
The project was launched on the 10th December 2020 and the first deliverables were presented on the 18th March 2021. It continues to hold events annually around the 20th March, the International Day of Happiness.
